Featured question
Is the Louvre worth it?
Yes. Once. For about two hours. And probably not on the day you were going to go.
Is the Musée d'Orsay worth it?
Yes — and don't book. The Orsay charges €16 online and €14 at the ticket desk. Booking ahead is the only thing here that costs you money.
Do I need to book the Eiffel Tower?
No — the ticket offices still sell for same-day entry. But the stairs to the second floor are €14.80 against €23.50 for the lift, and that queue is the short one.
Is the Paris Museum Pass worth it?
€85 for 48 hours. The Louvre, Versailles and the Orsay together come to €83 — three of the biggest tickets in France, and you're still €2 short of breaking even.
Should I take a taxi from CDG?
The regulated flat fare is €56 to the Right Bank and €65 to the Left. The train is €14 a head. At four people the Right Bank taxi is an exact tie — and it has the boot.
Is Versailles worth it?
Yes — but not at 10am with everyone else. The Passport is €35 in high season and €28 if you go in from 16:00, and the palace stays open until 18:30.

Rome
Featured question
Is the Colosseum worth it?
Yes, and the cheapest ticket is the one you want. €18 covers the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Palatine for 24 hours. The €24 tiers buy a floor, not a better day.
Do I tip in Rome?
No. And if there's a “coperto” line on your bill in Rome, it isn't a custom — regional law prohibits it outright, with a fine of up to €7,500.
Is the Vatican free on Sunday?
One Sunday a month — the last one, 09:00 to 14:00, free. Every other Sunday the Vatican Museums are shut, which is the part people get wrong.
How much is a taxi from Fiumicino?
€55, flat, per car, to anywhere inside the Aurelian Walls — supplements included. Rome's own tourism page still says €48. It's out of date, and so is the driver quoting you more.

Tokyo
Featured question
Do I need cash in Tokyo?
Yes. Japan reached 58.0% cashless in 2025 — which means 42% of everything still moves in notes, and that 42% is the small restaurant, the shrine and the coin locker.
When is the last train in Tokyo?
Around midnight, and there is no night subway to fall back on. Miss it and you're in a taxi paying the 20% late-night surcharge that runs from 22:00 to 05:00.
Is the Japan Rail Pass worth it?
¥50,000 for seven days. Tokyo to Kyoto and back is ¥28,340. You need a third long leg before the pass wins — and it still won't put you on a Nozomi.
Is teamLab Planets worth it?
Yes, once, and you cannot wing it — tickets are not sold at the door and the entry time on yours is the only one you get. From ¥4,200, and the price moves with demand.

London
Featured question
Is the London Pass worth it?
£105 for a single day, and the Tube isn't in it. Go City says so itself — the pass buys attractions, and you still pay to reach every one of them.
How do I get from Heathrow to London?
The Piccadilly line is £5.90. The Heathrow Express is £26 and a black cab starts at £70. You are being asked to pay £20 to save about 35 minutes.
Is the London Eye worth it?
£29 booked online, £39 if you walk up — and the time printed on your ticket is when you join the queue, not when you board. Peak waits run to 45 minutes.
Is the British Museum really free?
Yes. General admission is £0, every day, with no donation demanded at the door. Book the free ticket anyway — without one you're queuing on capacity.
Is the Tower of London worth it?
Yes — and the best part is already in the price. The Yeoman Warder tour costs nothing extra and the last one leaves at 15:15, so arriving at four means paying £38 for a queue.
